Shipping Controversies: The Harry Potter Series

Shipping Controversies

Let’s pretend that she hasn’t married Ron yet!

The Harry Potter Series, by J. K. Rowling

A/N: Since you guys liked “Shipping Controversies: Throne of Glass Series” so much, I’ve decided to do another Shipping Controversies post! This time I’ll be discussing the shipping controversies surrounding a character from a popular series: The Harry Potter series!

Ships I have Seen So Far: Hermione and who?

Hermione x Draco Malfoy

Reason to ship: It’s the cute “good girl” and the “bad boy” relationship!! They are nearly complete opposites, so their personalities complement each other. In fact, read The Ultimate Dramione Shippers Guide many more reasons.

Popularity: Still very popular.

Personal thoughts: This would be such an interesting relationship. Having said that, I am not sure that Hermione and Draco would actually become a couple in the books because there is too much history between them. If they met each other under different circumstances, then I think that it is highly possible for them to  get to together. I still ship them anyway.

Hermione x Ron

“Hermione, you are honestly the most wonderful person I’ve ever met,” said Ron weakly, “and if I’m ever rude to you again-”

“-I’ll know you’re back to normal,” said Hermione.

Reason to ship: Well… they are married.

Popularity: It’s popular.

Personal Thoughts: I think this is a nice couple, but I don’t think Ron complements Hermione as well as Draco does. Hermione and Ron also have a history, but this is a history full of loyalty and friendship which I think is what helps this ship to sail. Their romance seems a little unlikely, but it’s not improbable.

Hermione x Harry

Reason to ship: They’re very close and have been together through thick and thin.

Popularity: Very popular.

Personal Thoughts: When I was younger, I did ship Hermione and Harry. Now I ship Harry with Ginny, because I ship Hermione with Draco. It’s complicated ok. I think that the idea of this couple is definitely plausible. They have a lot in common. For example, they were both raised by muggles. That already provides a sort of connection between them since they have gone through a similar experience (I use the word similar quite hesitantly, because Hermione actually had legal guardians who loved her).

I also discovered a lot more ships but I haven’t really seen them before, so I don’t have much to say about them. Here are a few ships I’ve recently found:

Hermione x Fred

Hermione x Charlie

Hermione x Voldemort

Hoped you guys liked this new edition of “Shipping Controversies”! Which ship do you support? Tell me in the comments!!

Shipping Controversies: Throne of Glass Series

Shipping Controversies

Throne of Glass Series, by Sarah J. Maas

A/N: I suppose the reason why I created this post is because I really can’t decide who to ship this badass heroine with… I really recommend you not to carry on reading unless you have read the series. On a side note, I’d love to hear your thoughts about this matter, so please comment!

Ships I have Seen So Far: Celaena and who?

Celaena x Chaol

“He’d known, since the moment he figured out who she was, that while Celaena would always pick him, Aelin would not.”

Reason to ship: Celaena and Chaol like each other

Popularity: Very popular at first, but is slowly declining

Personal thoughts: I never really shipped Celaena and Chaol to be honest. After reading Heir of Fire, I’m not sure if Chaol really deserves her. When I was reading Heir of Fire, I was mentally shouting at him to stop being so indecisive. *Facepalm*. I don’t think Chaol is right with Celaena, as Chaol simply couldn’t accept the fact that Celaena is Aelin. Plus, Celaena does remove Chaol’s ring at the end of Heir of Fire, and that act could possibly symbolize the end of their relationship. However, Ms Maas has emphasized many times that Chaol and Celaena love each other, so this ship might be the successful one. Who knows.

An open letter to Chaol,

If you’re truly in love with Celaena, shouldn’t you love her regardless of whether or not she was from Terrasen?

Yours truly,

Celaena x Dorian

Reason to ship: They did like each other before

Popularity: Low

Personal Thoughts: I think this ship is pretty much not going to happen. In Heir of Fire, Dorian has already moved on from Celaena, which I think is good for him. And Celaena has certainly moved on from him. What I love about the relationship between these Dorian and Celaena is that they are still friends, even though they come from rival kingdoms, and were kind of lovers at one point. Dorian is friends with Celaena because he accepts who she is, he does not try to change her to meet his expectations, and vice versa. I really hope they remain friends.

A Celaena x Dorian Moment

“I’m impressed you got up here so quickly – and without a pack of court ladies hounding after you. Perhaps you should try your hand at being an assassin.”

He shook the hair out of his face. “I’m not interested in court ladies,” he said thickly, and kissed her.”

Celaena x Manon

Reason to ship: Why not?

Popularity: Slowly increasing

Personal Thoughts: Both characters are badass. I think they’d be very cool together. Besides, if you can’t decide which team to go for, go for this one. I don’t really have much to say on this ship though…

Celaena x Rowan

“I claim you, Rowan Whitethorn. I don’t care what you say and how much you protest. I claim you as my friend.”

Reason to ship: Their personalities fit together so well!

Popularity: Pretty popular

Personal Thoughts: If I had to choose a ship, I’d choose this ship (or Celaena x Manon- it depends). Celaena and Rowan understand each other so well, in a way that I don’t think Chaol will ever understand her. At first, Rowan wasn’t very friendly to Celaena, but they became friends soon afterwards. I’m not sure this ship will be endgame though, because Ms Maas repeatedly emphasizes in Heir of Fire that they are only friends, as you can see in the quote above. They’ve never really shown any intimacy towards each other either.

Dear Ms Maas,

Yours truly,

Celaena x Aedion

Reason to Ship: Aedion loves Celaena

Popularity: Low

Personal Thoughts: I think this isn’t really a romantic relationship, or at least not as of now. Aedion is very loyal to Celaena and everything, but I think this relationship is essentially more like a sibling relationship. There is still the possibility of it becoming Canon though, so I really can’t be sure.

Celaena x Sam

Reasons to Ship: They loved each other?

Popularity: Low

Personal Thoughts: I can’t really judge this ship. I haven’t read enough about Sam yet…

I hope you enjoyed reading this issue of “Shipping Controversies”! Now, who do you ship?
